Job Description for -EHS

Job location: Head office -Mumbai

 

 

 

Department : Project Management Group(PMG)

 

 

 

 

Key purpose of the job: To Establish and Monitor EHS Management System which is aligned with ISO requirements, Business strategy, Group EHS requirements, will set new bench marks by adopting internationally accepted best practices, innovations and continuous improvement.

The role is responsible for Overall EHS Management by ensuring proper EHS Manuals, plans, process and procedures are in place to drive safety culture across projects in all regions and also responsible for knowledge management under the HSE function as well

He will oversee development and implementation of behaviour based safety practices, verify the implementation and compliance of EHS Process, legal requirements, safety norms, rules & regulations, codes, contractual EHS requirements in EHS. Shall Conduct periodic Site Visits, Audits at project level to monitor and control implementation, ensure compliance with the implementation of EHS Process and requirements and shall report to the management.

Strategic

Develop annual EHS Strategy and conceptualize the approach to institutionalization of safety

Develop EHS Manual for the organization, annual health & safety objectives, drive improvement plan and track the implementation across projects

Work in close collaboration with the project teams at the time of project initiation to define the safety roadmap for the project and ensure commitment to the same.

Support in higher level EHS issues

Align HSE Strategy with the overall organization Strategy and EHS Strategy

Contractor empanelment and contractor performance evaluation

Drive safety culture in the organization by sensitizing and building leadership commitment to safety initiatives

 

Operational

Health & Safety

Ensure implementation of Health & Safety policies at the project sites

Shall be ready to travel for conducting corporate audits in projects.

Shall be good in Risk Assessment and to review the Risk identification in project Level

Shall be good in Conducting the Root Cause Analysis

Shall have good understanding and knowledge on all EHS Codes and legal requirements in India

Shall be good in conducting the Accident and incident investigation and good report writing skills for preparing reports to management

Able to prepare Annual and monthly HSE Dashboard’s or reports to management.

Good experience in Identifying potential hazards in construction and shall be able suggest appropriate control measures to minimize risks

 

Environment

Able to Analyse and handle key construction challenges related to environment like Dust mitigation, Effective waste management, recycling the materials.

Ensure no damage or minimal damage to the environment due to construction activities,

 

Audits & Inspection

On a periodic basis undertake physical visits on various project sites to undertake Audits & inspection and verify compliance to the Corporate process, procedures and safety standards

Through the regional safety heads, drive the following initiatives at the regional level –

o Routine EHS site Inspections for Access staircase, Labour welfare area, Hot work permit, fabrication, fire hydrant, stairways, scaffolding & for others with approved checklists

o Routine surveillance to identify all safety deficiencies, prioritizing the deficiencies and ensuring all deficiencies are rectified on the basis of priority rating

 

Monitoring (through Regional Safety Heads / Project HSE Manager/Coordinators)

Monitor work at site to ensure that all safety measures and compliances are being observed

Review the accident statistics and make appropriate recommendations for prevention of accidents

Ensure that every accident and a near miss is suitably communicated, investigated, and gaps in safety if any, are closed, so as to avoid recurrence of such incidents

Monitor regulatory compliance

Drive completion of periodic internal & external EHS audits, support in conducting root cause analysis in case of non- conformance (NC) and closure of NCs

 

Documentation & Training

Shall be responsible for Developing and maintaining safety manuals, Process, Procedures, Guidelines, Requirements standards

Shall have good training skills to conduct trainings in corporate level covering all projects and to groom trainers from the existing HSE Team members in project.

Impart training and education to all of employees in safety procedures and norms

Create necessary MIS reports for management review & set up regular review with sites to address any issues

 

Developmental

Ensure that the organization is represented at external safety forums including application for prestigious safety awards & certifications

Recruit appropriate talent where required for work area

Carry out performance appraisals, assess capability, and training needs of individuals in the function

Career planning for employees through guiding, coaching, mentoring and motivating them towards superior team performance & for achieving department and units objectives

Develop team’s capabilities and keep updated with the latest trends

 

 

Education & Experience Requirement:

B.E. Civil/ Mechanical/ Electrical

Formal degree or certification in safety from recognized bodies such as OSHAS, NEBOSH

15 + years of experience in areas of construction safety specifically in industrial or warehousing or Logistics projects.

Understanding of Behaviour based safety and Knowledge of DuPont safety standards is desirable

Good presentation skills for preparing PPT to management.
