Role: ESG Advisory/ Diligence
Department: Technical and Investment Risk Monitoring (Valuation and Professional
Services)
Location: Mumbai
Qualifications: Graduate in Engineering/ Social disciplines, Postgraduate in Environmental Engineering/ Sustainable
Architecture/ relevant qualifications (optional)
Experience: Min 3-4 yrs. of relevant experience into ESG diligences/ advisory with IPCs/ Big 4s/ Financial
Institutions/ reputed firms.
Roles and responsibilities: i. Understanding of reference frameworks as below:
a) Applicable Indian regulatory framework (National, State and Local) on E&S compliances and
issues
b) International Finance Corporation’s E&S Performance Standards (2012) c) World Bank Group’s (WBG) General Environmental, Health & Safety (WB-EHS) Guidelines (2007)
ii. Verifying that all necessary environmental and social permits, municipal/ULB permits, licenses and
approvals as per the national regulatory framework have been obtained or will be obtained and
complied with for the project.
iii. Obtaining information on status of NGT/SEIAA/SPCB case/s, if any, its resolution and compliance
and current status
iv. Evaluate the extent to which the environmental, health, safety and social documentation
developed to date responds and complies with the Applicable Standards and clearances/permits
granted
v. Reviewing and commenting on whether capacity and management structures to address
environmental and social impacts are feasible and appropriate, specifically on:
a) Evaluating the existence and/or adequacy of an Environmental and Social Management
System (ESMS) at the level of Project management and/or the contractor/sub-contractor
b) Determine whether responsibilities, obligations, and mechanisms for environmental,
health, safety and social management, monitoring, training, public relations are planned
and have been assigned
c) Labour aspects for staff and all contractors and occupational health and safety conditions
to ensure procedures will meet Applicable Standards (Labour laws, minimum wages,
BCOW Act, and Contract laws, EPF, ESI, group accident insurance, Employees
compensation insurance etc.) and clearances granted.
d) Review and determine if all significant environmental and social impacts of the Project
have been identified and appropriately mitigated (including preparedness for emergency
situations).
e) Identify and evaluate material environmental, health, safety and social risks and liability
issues associated with the Project and, if necessary, whether adequate and acceptable
plans, procedures, resources and training exist in relation to the prevention and mitigation
of these risks.
f) Assessing if all applicable significant environmental and social impacts of the Project have
been identified and mitigated, with specific review of air emissions, wastewater
generation, groundwater use, hazardous materials, wastes and noise, damage to
ecosystems and local community concerns/grievances if any.
vi. Reviewing and assessing health and safety plans and procedures to be implemented by
developer to adequately address potential worker health and safety risks.
